Meeting or Webinar

I am a library manager at a secondary school.

We are hosting an author via Zoom this Friday but our students have just returned to remote learning. 

Just wanting advice on whether the Zoom session on Friday should be via meeting or webinar.

There will be about 50 students in the session. The author will do most of the talking and the students will be asking questions towards the end of the session.

It really depemnds on how muc interaction you want the students to have with the author.

 

e.g. If you want the author to see the reactions of the students, then the students need to have the ability to have cameras on - this is a meeting function.

If you the author wants instand feedback from th students, then a meeting will be better.

 

If however you want a completely controlled environment, then go for a webinar, however you will loose out on the interaction inspite of students being able to type question and write in the chat..... or unless you mannual switch someone's mic on on request.

 

If the students are known to you and you know how they will behave, trust them to be responsible for their behaviour in a meeting!

I’d do webinar, personally, as it’ll give you more control over the whole experience—you get to actively control who can speak, whose video is shared with participants, etc.

As icrew said, I think webinars are the way to go!
However, if you want to see the students' videos, make it a meeting and hold it with the audio muted for everyone except the author.
