How can Zoom NOT cancel a subscription!?

I just cancelled my subscription for an organization I am no longer part of. And I find out that it will NOT BE CANCELLED UNTIL THE NEXT RENEWAL DATE!! This means I have just paid zoom for a full year's worth of service that I WILL NOT BE USING!! 

Do other people see the problem with this business model?

I wonder how zoom has been able to do this to their paying customers all this time?

The literal meaning of subscription is: An arrangement for providing, receiving, or making use of something of a continuing or periodic nature especially on a prepayment plan.

 

This business model is a standard across the board and not only in Zoom. Do not blame one party is more organized than the other when it comes to the subscription agreement they both made in the beginning.
