Scheduled meeting opens in New Outlook instead of old outlook

Whenever I schedule a Zoom meeting on my desktop, the email invite opens in the old version of Outlook instead of the New Outlook, which I prefer to use. I've already set the New Outlook as my default email app in my system settings, but Zoom still defaults to the old version. ICS files are set to open in New Outlook btw. Does anyone know how I can fix this so that Zoom opens email invites in the New Outlook? Any help would be appreciated!

This is what Zoom Support sent I can tell you these steps are generic and don’t work for New Outlook and Zoom.

Thank you for contacting Zoom Technical Support! My name is Christopher Galera from Level 2 Technical Support.

To help ensure Zoom Workplace launches New Outlook instead of Outlook Classic, please follow these steps to set New Outlook as the default app for calendar files:

  1. Open the Windows Start menu and search for Default Programs.
  2. Select Default Apps from the search results.
  3. Scroll down and click Choose default apps by file type.
  4. In the search box, type .ics to locate the file type for calendar invites.
  5. If the default app is set to Outlook (Classic), click on it and select Outlook (new) or New Outlook from the list of available apps.
  6. Close the settings window and restart your computer if prompted.

This change will set New Outlook as the default application for calendar invite files, which may help Zoom Workplace open New Outlook instead of Outlook Classic when launching calendar events.

Note: If you do not see Outlook (new) as an option, please ensure that New Outlook is fully installed and updated on your system.
