Whole Zoom Meeting Recording Is Glitching and Unusable

My coworker recorded a zoom meeting, but the video in its entirety is glitching out. Not just a single person's feed or a few flickers here and there, but the whole video is glitching and flickering and turning green and pixelated every few seconds. Everyone’s feed, who had their cameras on is glitching and lagging as well. It was more stable during the screen sharing part, but even then it was still glitching every few seconds. I was asked to edit the video, but i can't do anything about that. Why did this happen and is there a way to fix it?

hi @Lindsey Reichert ,

Welcome to the forum. If that is your recording, then you are right that htere is nothing much you can do about it.

Can I ask what type of recording did you make? - If it was a local recording then the problem could have been down to the PC that was making a recording. Is it underpowered, or had many other app running at the same time?

I would always recommend making a cloud recording. If you download it and then delete the cloud version, you will not use up your cloud space and not be billed. (if you do find a problem, a cloud recording can be brought back from the deleted bin for up to 30 days)

I hope that helps.

John

P.S. In my 7 years of Zoom use, many meetings and webinars each week, I have only ever had a recording fail to work ONCE.
I have also forgotten to record twice during that time too.

Hello @Lindsey Reichert ,

Most of the time this is due to network conditions in the meeting. If you have the ability to reach out to our technical support team, they can look at the recording and see if there is any way for us to improve the recording. If it is degraded due to network conditions, I am sorry, but we will not be able to restore the recording for you. If it is due to a backend issue with Zoom, we may be able to restore the condition of the recording. Your best bet is to submit a ticket to Technical Support.

hello,

I am not sure if it’s a local recording or not. The video isn’t originally mine, but my coworkers and I’m not sure what computer setup she has either. We also have an online portal that many of the staff at the company I work at use to access pretty much everything and she could have accessed Zoom through it. The connection through the portal is known to be really bad. So the problem was probably due to a mix of factors.

I will let her know about the Cloud recording thing and see if there is anything we can do to make sure this doesn’t happen again. Thanks for the info 😊
