when joining a meeting, don't launch calendar, and when leaving a meeting, COMPLETELY QUIT ZOOM

I love Zoom. It’s the best webinar platform. HOWEVER, there are two features that I absolutely HATE:

  1. When I join a meeting, Zoom launches an extremely annoying calendar that I have absolutely no use for. I could ignore it, but I tend to close it because I don’t want it there. This is an extra step that‘s reminds me of when a person sticks a flyer on my car that I have absolutely no interest in: it’s like they’re saying, “Here, you throw this away.” [Mitch Hedberg]
  2. After leaving a meeting, ZΩOM KEEPS RUNNING FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON. I don’t want apps running that I’m not using. No other app I use does this. I don’t understand why it’s doing this, other than so that I don’t have to relaunch it next time - BUT I WANT TO BE THE ONE TO DECIDE TO LEAVE IT RUNNING OR NOT.

Is there a way to:

  1. Make the calendar NOT open when I join a meeting?
  2. Make Zoom QUIT COMPLETELY when I leave a meeting?

    1. Are you JOINING or SIGNING IN? JOINING does not show any calendar when there has been no sign-in.
    2. Actually there is a REASON when you SIGN-IN, which you most likely do not use. You can be signed in to multiple accounts at the same time and easily switch between those accounts. You can also remain signed-in to an account on multiple devices and start a meeting from any of those devices without having to sign-out of all other devices. This a desired feature for numerous businesses, If you JOIN a meeting without signing in then Zoom will close as you anticipated.

I think I’m only joining. Someone sends me a meeting link, I click on it, and it doesn’t ask me to sign in. Does that = joining?

In any case, when I do that, the calendar launches.

Whether I’m signed in or not, my primary complaint is that Zoom won’t quit when I leave the meeting. I don’t want Zoom to keep running. I want it to quit without me taking the extra steps to make it quit.

@storyhub You are seeing the calendar because you have joined while your own account is signed in. You need to sign out of your account before executing the join URL. You do not NEED to be signed in to join someone else's Zoom meeting; however, if you ARE SIGNED IN then you will see the calendar. You do not even need to have a Zoom account to join someone else’s meeting.
