Please add an enterprise option for recording by internal company participants

Problem

I work for a medium size company and recording meetings on Zoom is constantly a pain point due to hosts going on vacation, or not being able to record a meeting. When this happens, our workflow is disrupted and the time of everyone in the meeting is wasted because we either don’t record, or have to create a new Zoom call, exit the call, and have everyone re-join a new call.

Zoom’s current (poor) solution

Per “Starting recordings without the host” the only viable way to currently do this at our company is to:

  1. Add all participants as co-hosts. This adds an additional task to manage for every single meeting. Sometimes people set up meetings and hosts forget to do this. Then we’re inconvenienced.
  2. Enable automatic cloud recording. The first few minutes of a Zoom call is usually small talk, or waiting for participants to arrive. Having this recorded would add extra work, as we would have to review and crop the recordings before sharing.

Design suggestion

  • I understand that allowing participants to host may be a security risk. However, there are options around this that should be considered at an enterprise level.
  • Add a meeting-level setting to “Allow internal company participants to record.” Security risks are mitigated. Enterprise customers aren’t inconvenienced by hosts not being available / not being able to record meetings.

    Hello,

Why can you use alternative hosts?

Account owners and admins can enable an account-level setting to allow users to add alternative hosts and assign scheduling privileges to other users who are in the same organization. These features allow for more productivity and flexibility for teams that schedule meetings for each other.

When scheduling a meeting, the host can designate another Licensed user on the same account to be the alternative host. The alternative host can start the meeting on the host's behalf. This user will receive an email notifying them that they've been added as an alternative host, with a link to start the meeting. If this email notification is disabled in the Zoom web portal, the alternative host will not receive an email to start the meeting.

An alternative host can start recording a Zoom meeting. Once they start the meeting, they have the same control permissions as the host, allowing them to start, pause, or stop local or cloud recordings. Alternative hosts must be licensed users within the same account
