No 'Check for Updates' option

I have found several posts from so many users that are looking for the same thing as me. The 'Check for Updates' option. It used to be under the profile section. But it has been removed. I don't mean to be rude, but it shouldn't matter whether I checked the box to auto-update or not. The fact is, it can be problematic to connect to a meeting only to discover that it needs to update at that time! You then have to wait for the update to finish and may even have to restart taking more time before you can connect to the meeting!

The option to check for an update should be available at ALL TIMES. For security purposes if nothing else. But also to help with avoiding that last minute update before a meeting starts. That way I can check beforehand and update if necessary.

Please consider these words and this request. This will be of help to all customers whether they are paying ones or not.

Please know this is not in anger, but there is some frustration and concern on how this operates now. As a previous IT administrator things such as security updates were a top concern. Not being able to verify if something was up-to-date was crucial! We would terminate contracts with companies that couldn't tell us or give us proper methods to verify updates and version of software.

Thank you for your time, I hope this is considered and taken seriously.

My computer security keeps telling me that my Zoom needs to be updated, but I don’t have the ‘Check for Updates’ option either and cannot see another way of updating…

hi @Duncan-Fam and @Helen S

If you click on your icon, you will see a set of options. The update check is there and it has been like that for a long time.

@ExpertswhoJohn, I have Zoom on multiple machines and am familiar with the Check for Updates button from the profile menu. However, it is not an option for my laptop which is using a previous version - 6.6.11 Is the update option somewhere else on this previous version?

Note: I downloaded the latest version from Zoom download page, installed. And it’s still showing version 6.6.11. I’ve also started a Zoom meeting, clicked on the Download Workplace option, installed, and it’s still not updating.

I see the updated features on other machines, so I know the laptop doesn’t have the latest version.

Thanks for your help.

hi @ExpertswhoJohn ,

It has almost always ever been there.
But you are right that it was missing on a few versions.

the Zoom Download page will update you with a new updated version

I hope that helps. Please like my reply if it does

John, I have used Zoomcleaner and installed the latest version - I have a Workplace Pro account.  The “Check for Updates “ still does not appear when I click on my profile pic when I log into zoom.us/myhome. And I cant see how to check my version. It seems like I am always connecting to an online account instead of a browser program. My desktop shortcut goes to zoom.us/myhome. I also have a “Zoom Workplace” shortcut and when I click on that, it opens up a page with only a very few options and looks nothing like the full “myhome” screen. I upgraded because in the last 2 weeks my zoom meetings always intermittently freeze. I was told by the zoom chat to upgrade to fix this issue. My wifi is around 200 for both up and down.
