Intermittent audio issue when joining Microsoft Teams meetings from Zoom Rooms (Poly X50)

Hi Zoom Community,

We’re experiencing an intermittent audio issue when joining Microsoft Teams meetings from Zoom Rooms, specifically on Poly X50 devices.

What we’re seeing:

  • When a Zoom Room joins a Teams meeting, the remote Teams participants can see video from the room, but cannot hear the people in the room
  • Audio from the Teams side into the room works
  • This does not happen consistently — some meetings work as expected, others do not
  • The issue has occurred across multiple rooms, not just a single device

What we’ve tested so far:

  • Joining via calendar invite (room invited to the meeting)
  • Joining via Teams meeting ID
  • Testing with internal users and a third‑party/external participant
  • Same behavior observed regardless of join method or participant type

We’re mainly trying to understand whether:

  • Others are experiencing similar one‑way audio issues when joining Teams meetings from Zoom Rooms
  • This is a known interoperability issue or limitation
  • There are any recommended settings, logs, or patterns to look for given the inconsistency

Appreciate any shared experiences or insight from others running Zoom Rooms with Teams interoperability.

    My piece of advice here is to not expect Direct Guest Join to work without a hitch. Over the years, it’s proven to be unreliable/inconsistent from version to version of Zoom, frequently with varying performance from model to model of Zoom Certified Hardware. It could be better, it should be better - alas, there’s little motivation for Zoom to sink time into a perfect Microsoft experience (and vice versa).

     

    I would strongly advise raising this formally with Zoom support (who may try to bog you down with repro work), but please remember that the Poly X50 has already been marked for EoL/EoS and is on the way out, as far as Zoom is concerned. Would be good to know if this is specific to the X50 or everything running PVOS (including the X52, which is the direct successor to the X50).

    Thanks for replying to my post and for sharing this information, really appreciate the insight.

    We’re seeing the same behavior not only on the Poly X50, but also on the X52 and X72, which suggests this isn’t isolated to a single model. Based on what we’re observing, this appears to be more broadly related to the Direct Guest Join experience across multiple Poly devices rather than specific to the X50 alone.

    We’ve already reached out to Zoom Support to formally raise this and get it tracked on their side. It will be helpful to understand whether this is tied to PVOS in general or if Zoom can provide any additional guidance or expectations moving forward.
