difficulty adding co-host

I have Zoom Pro and am trying to schedule a meeting with a co-host. Every time I try adding a co-host I receive an error message "Unable to assign "(email address)" as an alternative host because the user cannot be selected at this time. How do I fix this?

Hi @Elizabeth122! Is the person you are trying to designate as an alternative host a user on the same account as you, and do they have a paid license (able to schedule meetings more than 40 minutes)?

Just to note, there is a difference between an "alternative host" and a "co-host", which have separate permissions. If you are trying to set up an alternative host who can start the meeting on your behalf, then that person must be in the same account as you and have a license. If you just need a co-host who can help you manage host controls in the meeting, then you can add someone during the meeting.

Here are requirements for alternative host: https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0067027

And here are details about co-hosts: https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0066640

I have a licensed Zoom, but the co-host option is not available in it.

Welcome to the Zoom Community, @Gkcworld

To enable or disable the co-host feature for all users in the account:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an administrator with the privilege to edit account settings.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Account Management, then Account Settings.
  3. Click the Meeting tab.
  4. Under In Meeting (Basic), click the Co-host toggle to enable or disable it.
  5. If a verification dialog appears, click Enable or Disable to verify the change.
  6. (Optional) To prevent all users in your account from changing this setting, click the lock icon, and then click Lock to confirm the setting.
