Audio sounds like in slow motion during meetings

Since some time, it often happens that audio plays up for me in meetings. The voices of other participants sound like in slow motion. Impossible to decipher what they say. My Zoom app is up to date as is my Mac OS on my MacBook Pro (Tahoe 26.3, M2 chip and 24 GB of RAM). On previous occasions a restart of Zoom has fixed it but not recently. Shutting down other software to a minimum didn’t help either, nor did a complete reboot.

What can be the problem?

Hi @TheSocialSwede, welcome to Zoom Community! You can try checking the following settings:

  • Open Audio MIDI Setup found in Applications > Utilities, select your output device (MacBook Pro Speakers or Headphones) in the left sidebar, check the Format dropdown (if it’s set to 48.0 kHz or higher, try switching it to 44.1 kHz), and do the same for your input (microphone) device.
  • In your Zoom app, go to Settings > Audio, set “Background noise suppression” to Low, toggle on Original Sound for Musicians. When you are in your next meeting, click the button in the top left to turn “Original Sound” On, which bypasses Zoom’s heavy filtering.
  • Try force-resetting the audio daemon without restarting your computer. Open Terminal, type sudo killall coreaudiod, hit Enter, and enter your Mac password. This will instantly restart the audio driver.

Many thanks KhatC.

Have tried to change the settings. Hoping for better luck in my next meeting.

I had already reinstalled the Zoom app and managed to have one meeting without trouble.

By the way, the only setting option for my AirPods other than 48000 was 24000. What a difference in sound! All the base disappeared!
