How do I delete my personal chat channel in Zoom-Workplace?

In Zoom-Workplace where the chat channels are listed, there is a personal channel with my name, that was (probably) auto generated by Zoom. It is also listed as favourite (with star marking) and therefore shows up right on top of my list. Thing is, I don’t use this. EVER. I love the chat function, but I don’t chat with myself and I don’t use it to store notes and would never have the idea to look for them in a chat channel.

Why can’t I delete this? Or am I overlooking an option to delete it?

And can I at least move it to the bottom of my chats, where I don’t see it?

Hi JessicaH,

Thanks for your question.

The chat channel with your own name is your personal chat space in Zoom Workplace. It’s a built-in chat that’s designed for things like saved messages, notes, files, and drafts, so it can’t currently be deleted.

That said, we understand it may not be useful for everyone.

A few notes that may help:

  • It will typically remain available by design, even if you don’t actively use it.
  • If it’s appearing at the top because it’s marked as a favorite/starred conversation, you should be able to remove it from Favorites so it no longer stays pinned in that section.
  • Depending on your client version and layout, you may also be able to collapse or reorganize sections in Chat to reduce how prominent it appears.

At this time, there isn’t a supported option to fully remove that personal/self chat from the Zoom Workplace chat list.

We appreciate the feedback here though, especially around being able to hide, unpin, or move it lower in the list. That’s a reasonable usability request, and we’ll make sure it’s shared with the team.

Thanks again.

Thanks a lot for your fast and helpful reply. :-) I need to ask however: How do remove it from favourites? I have been trying that the whole day, but the only thing I can do, is to delete the contents. Nothing else.

My last resort would be to make a separate folder, move every other favourite to this folder, collapse and move the actual favourites folder to the bottom. But getting it out of favourites would be easier...
