issue in new chat update

After the recent update, it’s become very difficult to manage chat messages during my Zoom sessions. Earlier, I could easily see all private messages sent by participants to the host in one place. Now, I need to select each participant to view their message, which is not practical when handling large groups.

 

As a teacher managing big online classes, this change has made it much harder to interact with students. I kindly request Zoom to bring back the previous chat behavior or provide an option for the host to view all private messages together.

Is there any resolution to this? I am finding it very difficult to teach with the changes in chat function.

I am also an online teacher. With the new chat box, I feel that I just no longer have the control I need for online teaching. It is incredibly frustrating! I think we might need to move to TEAMS to make using the chatbox while teaching a viable prospect.

Do you know if TEAMS allows the pupils to only send messages to the teacher - so that all pupils cannot see their chat?  I don't want the pupils to chat to each other, as they start distracting each other.  I know Google meet is not suitable as it only lets you have a group chat.

I reached out to zoom support, they quickly replied with a fix to this issue. In settings, toggle off the option for ‘new chat experience.’ I did, happy camper once again as old chat format is back. Thank you Zoom

Giant step backward zoom.

I am looking for a replacement to zoom.

Zoom senior sales staff have said they realize the update is unworkable and there is nothing that will be done about it currently.

 

Anyone have suggestions to alternatives for zoom?

 

We are an enterprise customer at zoom.

This is a major issue for us at The Literacy Club also. I am hoping for a reversion very soon otherwise will have to figure out alternatives.

Tell your account manager that you are an educational company.  They are claiming there is a fix!

This really needs to change immediately. I have now started researching alternatives to Zoom such as BigBlueButton, Pencil Spaces, Bramble.io, etc.
