Hi @Carlos Citadini, welcome to Zoom Community!  Here are some steps and best practices to help reduce or eliminate the delay you’re experiencing when clicking Join and seeing a black screen before entering the breakout room.

    • Check Your Zoom Client and Network

      • Update to the latest Zoom version — performance improvements for breakout rooms are regularly included in updates.

      • Use a stable, high‑speed connection (wired if possible). Latency often occurs when the client reconnects to the breakout room server.

      • Close background applications that consume bandwidth or CPU (e.g., cloud sync tools, streaming apps).

      • Test your network using Zoom’s built‑in statistics (Settings → Statistics) to ensure low latency and minimal packet loss.

    • Optimize Breakout Room Performance

      • Join from the Zoom desktop client rather than a browser. The browser experience can introduce additional delay when switching rooms.

      • Avoid switching rooms too quickly; allow a few seconds between leaving one room and joining another to let the client re‑establish the session.

      • Disable HD video temporarily if your network is congested. This reduces the data load when entering a new room.

      • Ensure the host’s device and network are stable, since the host manages breakout room assignments and transitions.

    • Co‑Host Considerations

      • Co‑hosts rely on the host’s breakout room configuration. If the host’s connection is slow or the meeting has many participants, transitions can take longer.

      • Ask the host to pre‑assign breakout rooms before the meeting starts to minimize processing time when rooms open.

      • If you’re frequently switching between rooms, consider using the “Move to” option instead of waiting for the prompt. It can reduce the black‑screen delay.

    • Additional Tips

      • Keep your Zoom app cache clear (sign out and back in occasionally).

      • Use the latest operating system updates and ensure your GPU drivers are current. Outdated graphics drivers can cause black‑screen rendering delays.

      • If the issue persists across multiple meetings, try reinstalling the Zoom client to refresh local configuration files.

    • Known Limitations

      • A brief transition delay (1–3 seconds) is normal as Zoom re‑establishes the video stream when moving between breakout rooms.

      • Longer delays may indicate network congestion or device performance issues rather than a Zoom service problem.

Keep your Zoom client updated, use a wired or high‑speed connection, and minimize background load. Pre‑assigning rooms and joining via the desktop client usually provides the smoothest breakout room transitions. Hope this helps!
