.org can't sign up for zoom account??

Good Morning,

I’m an instructional technology specialist at a private school. My new assistant head of school needs a zoom account tied to her school email which ends in .org. When I tried I got this notice that said there was some education form needed that had to be turned in by April 2022. We JUST got this notice last week. Does anyone know what this is about?

    Good morning,

There is no official Zoom requirement or form that schools using a .org email domain needed to submit by April 2022. The message you saw likely refers to an older or misinterpreted notice related to how Zoom verifies educational institutions.

Here is what is actually happening:

    • Zoom does not require an “education form” for individual users or schools to create accounts.
    • Institutions on Zoom’s Education, Business, or Enterprise plans can verify their school domain (for example, @yourschool.org) as an associated domain. This verification ensures that new sign-ups using that domain are correctly linked to the school’s account and that privacy and compliance settings for minors are properly applied.
    • Some older communications around 2021–2022 mentioned education verification for K‑12 compliance, but there was no universal April 2022 cutoff or form requirement.

If your assistant head of school is seeing that message, it may mean the school’s domain has not yet been verified or is being recognized as part of an education plan. The best next steps are:

    1. Have your Zoom account administrator verify the school’s domain under Admin → Account Management → Account Profile → Associated Domains.
    2. If your school uses a Zoom Education plan, complete the domain verification process (via DNS, HTML file, or meta tag).
    3. If you are not on an Education plan, the account can still be created normally using the .org email once the domain is verified or the message is cleared.
    4. If the issue persists, contact Zoom Support and provide the exact message text so they can confirm whether it is a domain verification prompt or a legacy compliance notice.
