Can't upgrade to paid account (iOS)

Hi I can't upgrade in the iPhone or iPad app store to a paid plan. It's confusing. A message appears whenever I try to do so, telling me that I need to open the app... but there is absolutely no option to buy an in-app subscription. How did you guys ...
