Connect external mic to iphone - Zoom meeting

I am trying to connect an external mic with iPhone and while most of the other apps like voice memo, etc recognizes the mic and works on that mic - while connecting to Zoom meeting, it uses the iPhone's in-built mic and does not use the external mic....
