iphone and the updated zoom the chat wont stay in horizontal

ever since I got my new iphone and the chat keeps switching to portrait, from landscape, I have to write all of my tests with zoom on and it has to say in landscape or horizontal, or I could get a zero.  Unfortunately I have to use chat to communicate with the proctor occasionally.  I have tried everything I can think of please help.
