How do you react to messages in chat with the new update?

For everybody - I have solved my issue so hopefully it helps with you all. I had a compound issue but I will explain through it. Basically, I did not have the ability to react to in meeting chats and so I figured I would update. But alas the update option just was not there. At my agency, they had reconfigured our desktops and a few other things which made us unable to either install or uninstall a program. I therefore had to get our IT involved. Once that was done and I was able to uninstall, download a new version and then reinstall that one, everything has worked great since. I can react to in-meeting chats and my update option is back as well. I can also make myself an avatar, which is fun. I found out through this process that a lot of people at my agency had lost their update option as well and had to go through the same process. Either way, try uninstalling and downloading the newest version from the Zoom website. I am adding it to the bottom of this for easy access. I can try to answer more questions if you respond to this post. I hope it works for everyone else as well.

Hi @watermeloncrunc ! 

  1. In the meeting controls, click Chat 
     

     

  2. Hover your cursor over the message you want to react to. Additional options will appear to the right of the message.
  3. Click the reaction icon

Is it possible that the feature is enabled by some users and disabled by others in the same company?

I am having the same problem.

I had the wrong app. I noticed that zoom has two apps for Mac. One for the Intel chip and one for the Apple chip. Know my chat is working.

Same. No reactions show/present. It seems like my account has not updated as my chat options are the exact same as before the update. Nothing shows when hovering and the three dots next to each message only include "copy" and "quote". 

 

I can access the reactions on my mobile app, but not on the desktop app. Others in my company have full access to reactions on both mobile and desktop apps.

I'm experiencing the same problem: I can see other reactions to comments in the chat. But I don't have the option to react. Only "copy" and "quote". I'm using Zoom Version 5.12.9 (13190).

I also cannot blur the background.  Found out that through I have the correct processor, i5, I haven't upgraded to IOS 10.14 to make it work.  https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/360043484511. Assuming this is the same reason I cannot react to chats.
