I've tried changing settings but nothing solved the issue. Any suggestions on what to do?

Tonight I was the cohost on a meeting and needed to share a portion of my screen. The green square that adjusts what portion of the screen is shared would not pop up, and even though I was clicking "portion of screen" it would only share the whole screen. Why didn't the adjustable green square pop up and let me adjust the portion shared?

Thank you!

Dear Zoom team,

There was an upgrade that was made recently.

previous version 5.13.11 ( working well in terms of audio sharing)    latest version : 5.14.0 ( not working well in terms of audio sharing)   OS: Windows 11. Laptop: HP Envy

Earlier to that upgrade: When we share the audio from the Zoom client from  laptop, we can control the volume from two levels. 1) From youtube 2) from laptop volume up button. Zoom client use to take the volume level from#audiosharing #sharing the youtube. So I can even mute the laptop and zoom audience can hear it well. I can adjust the level of volume that I would like to hear when sharing sound. This is perfect ideal thing.

After recent upgrade - 5.14.0,

When I turn down the volume of the laptop, even the people on zoom are hearing low. So now in order for them to listen well, I have to turn the volume of the laptop to 100%. Now for me sitting in front of lap and to the people around me it is like a noise.

I agree you introduced this feature to help us, but it has downside too. To resolve this, you can add an option either in Zoom app for audio sharing - Use only the application volume level like youtube / media player and not the volume level of the laptop.

So many times I got complaints from the zoom audience that they can't hear well. Please consider this as a high priority request. The same feature to be introduced to Mac and Windows both. Because even in Mac, the same issue exists.

Thanks

Venky

The content that is generated in the chat in the main zoom room disappears (clears out) when participants move into breakout rooms. This is a new change that wasn't happening last week when I used zoom. Is this a bug or new feature that needs to be enabled/disabled?

It used to be the case that "Your chat history follows you. This means while attendees are in a breakout room, they will still be able to view the chat messages from the main room prior to entering a breakout room. When they return to the main room, chat messages from their specific breakout room will appear in the chat panel." As described in this doc: https://management.buffalo.edu/content/dam/mgt/Internal/Faculty-Resources/Documents/Zoom-Breakout-Rooms-Limitations-Features.pdf

Zoom Causes Network "Crash" for Specific Dell Laptops

We have three employees who all recently got Dell  XPS 13 9310 2-in-1 laptops.  No one else in the company has these laptops.

This is how to replicate the issue:

  • User has a Dell  XPS 13 9310 2-in-1 laptop with Windows 10 21H1 with updated OS, drivers and firmware.
  • User with the above laptop joins a meeting with audio and video (webcam).
  • User unmutes and begins to talk.
  • The problem begins within 3 seconds of the user talking or transmitting audio.
  • This has also been replicated when a user shares a web page with a video.  As soon as both audio and video transmitted the problem occurs.  It doesn't matter if the video and audio are coming from a webcam+mic or a video being shared.

Characteristics of the problem:

  • From the perspective of the other attendees - the affected user unmutes, says a few words, and then their video freezes and audio stops.
  • From the perspective of the affected user
    • ~3 seconds into sending audio and video the Zoom client becomes unresponsive (mouse clicks don't register within the application), but Windows never detects the application has "no responding".  So no application crashes are logged in the Windows Application Event Log.
    • As soon as the Zoom client becomes unresponsive, all network traffic to/from the affected laptop is halted.  The laptop can ping it's IP and the loopback address, but not it's local gateway.
    • At around 10 seconds into the problem, the Zoom window closes, and the smaller, index-card-sized Zoom startup window pops up with the loading indicator spinning.
    • At 10~20 seconds into the Zoom loading window, network traffic is resumed.  The gateway and other network and Internet IPs become pingable again.
    • Another ~10 seconds (roughly 30-40 seconds into the problem) and the Zoom window reopens re-joining the meeting where the issue occurred.

Things we have tried:

  • Connecting to various different networks both wired and wireless
  • Updating all device drivers and firmware
  • Reinstalling Zoom
  • Reinstalling Windows
  • Switching out USB docking stations using different makes and models
  • Switching different audio and video devices although it doesn't matter the source of the video and audio

I suspect this is a problem with a codec or some other compress issue, but I never see a driver or application crash logged in the Windows event viewer.  It's as if the Zoom client halts ALL network traffic while it restarts from being able to handle the audio and video.

Again, this ONLY happens with the Dell  XPS 13 9310 2-in-1 laptops.  We have a myriad of different users on different hardware including other Dell laptops, but these users on these laptops are having this issue.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

I'm using a Samsung Chromebook, when I'm in a meeting the video feed thumbnails for the other participants stops and all I see is either just a black box with their names or a stretched thumbnail of the last participant who was speaking. This typically occurs when a participant shares their screen. It does not revert when they stop, but if they open break out rooms it does.

I'm needing a recordings of meetings where I introduce myself, then shift to a powerpoint presentation without me in it, then return back to me.

While presenting, in the green drop down box that displays what is being shared, it shows the audience the powerpoint presentation only (as desired). However, in the recording there is an additional black section to the right and a box with my face presenting in the top right. Can anyone assist with how I remove the box with me presenting during the powerpoint presentation and the black section below it.

Many thanks!
I'm using the latest version of Zoom on an Apple M2 Pro - Ventura 13
