I administer an on-line learning system where instructors meet with students via Zoom.

Recently, an instructor was unable to initiate the Zoom meeting at the last minute.  Students had already logged in to the instructor's "room" and were waiting for the instructor to open the meeting.

The instructor was unavailable.  Since students were waiting and ready,  I wanted to open the room so students could "attend" class.

I was unable to find a way to open the room.

Is there a process whereby I can open an instructor's room on their behalf? The situation was exacerbated by the short notice unavailability; the scheduled insructor was not able to asign the room to another user.

I'm really upset.

We had a call with a colleague, but the recording button disappeared - there was only a cloud recording function. I don’t even know what it is - I put it on recording, but the recording was not converted when the conference ended.

Hello Team,

Sorry to bother you all .  I have tried on and off to work this out.

Our church streams to a few people.  Usually about five only.  Sometimes our feed is taken up by another church or a group in a large building.

At those times, the (remote) church only wants to see the speaker view and not all the other people.  Gallery View and Speaker View both display all the participants.  I have read we can switch off those who’s cameras are off.  But the question is, on the receiving end, how does the operator select Speaker View only – so this can be projected on the screen without all the other participants.

Thank you,

Rodney.

I just purchased a Zoom Pro account. The person I had a meeting with could see and hear me. I could hear them, but their video disappeared and their screen went black (without their user name - just completely black) and they were still sharing their video. My wife and I tried to Zoom each other after my meeting and the same thing happened on my computer. Her screen went black. She could still see me. How do I fix this? I saw other people post the same problem and someone replied saying they were creating a support ticket. Can someone from Zoom please do that for me? Thanks

When we host meetings, there are some participants that do not have their video enabled or do not have the ability to sign in with or start their video and only their name is on display during the meeting against a black screen.

When the recording of the video is reviewed, only those in attendance with their video on are shown as participants and the black screens with just names are not included in the recording. Even when people with only their name showing speak, it just sounds like its a person in the background.

Is there a way to change this? I checked all through the settings

Can a Zoom Pro account be upgraded for a one-off event to allow more than 100 participants?

This would be for one day only (UK based) - any help gratefully received

Resolved! macOS Sonoma + Continuity Camera + iPhone 13 = Wide Angle Only (unless you use Center Stage)

This seems like a bug, but perhaps there's either a setting I'm not noticing.

I love using my iPhone 13 (iOS 17.0.1) on my Intel-based MacBook Pro running macOS 14 Sonoma (final release, 23A344), however I noticed something that's been frustrating me. This issue only seem to have occurred in a recent Zoom release, perhaps as early as 5.15, but it might have also corresponded with the final release of macOS.

This iPhone has a wide angle and standard (main) on the back.  Using Continuity Camera, it seems the only way to use the standard (main) camera is to use Center Stage, which is the macOS video processing feature that tracks and zooms in on the figure in the video conference. I don't like using Center Stage, because it's distracting; there's too much motion: zooming in and out, even when I move slightly.

However, turning off Center Stage will always default to the wide angle camera, which is also not desirable. It reminds me of a fisheye lens.

Irrespective of whether I set Zoom preferences to use HD or Original Ratio, the effect is the same. There's no option to set the preference to standard (main) lens, either in macOS or Zoom.

When using FaceTime, however, I can choose wide angle or standard, independent of Center Stage.
