I think it would be a huge benefit if direct messages between participants in zoom meetings were kept separate from the general chat box because this does help those who would rather focus on only the direct chats that they send and/or receive. This would also be a benefit to the general chat box meaning any chat taking place between all participants there wouldn't be broken up for each participant if they sent or received a direct message while the chat was active.
Ultimately both types of in-meeting chat would become more manageable to follow and participate in due to there being no interference
