Start a zoom meeting does not generate a phone number that I can send to invite

I don't know where I changed it, but zoom used to include a number you can call to join the meeting along with the meeting code. For those who don't have access to a computer or smartphone (which requires internet access which some people in my area don't have). When I join other meetings other people host, they will send an invitation that shows a number you can call. I can't find a number for zoom to talk to someone. (I did before and the person who I talked to said that regular phones can't call into zoom meetings when I can if someone else hosts.....).

ANY PHONE can join a Zoom meeting and any phone can be used as the audio device for a computer when that computer does not have a sound device. https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0060564

I was trying to send invite for a meeting and it neer gave me the option to enter a phone no. Only an e-mail address?

Well, I'm unsure which phone numbers with codes to put in so people can join a meeting. It was extremely frustrating. We found a different service that does computer and phone with it generating the numbers you can copy and send to people.

When you schedule a Zoom meeting, whether or not a dial-in phone number appears in the invite depends on your account settings and subscription plan.

  • Free (Basic) Zoom accounts don’t always include dial-in numbers for all regions. If the option was showing before, it’s possible that your settings changed, or you were joining meetings hosted by someone with a paid plan.

  • Paid plans (Pro, Business, Education, Enterprise) include PSTN dial-in numbers by default, which show up automatically in the invitation.

  • To check, go to Zoom web portal → Settings → Meeting → Audio Type and make sure “Telephone and Computer Audio” is enabled. This ensures invitations display both the link and dial-in numbers.

  • If you only see “Computer Audio” selected, participants won’t get a phone number option.

  • You can also confirm by scheduling a test meeting and clicking Copy Invitation—if “Dial by your location” numbers are listed, it’s working.

👉 In short: To restore phone dial-in numbers, enable “Telephone and Computer Audio” in your settings. If you’re on the Basic (free) plan and need consistent dial-in options, you’ll need to upgrade to Pro or higher.
