After my zoom update, the light no longer works properly. It no longer adjusts to low light, even if I select to do it manually. My video is quite dark now, even with natural light in the room.

Same here....🥹

It's pretty extreme. I have two windows with natural lighting coming in - one west, one south - full spectrum lights overhead, 10 full spectrum lights for my plants all around the room, fairy lights wrapped around the bookshelf behind me, and it still looks like I live in a cave. My face is well lit, and everything else is a dungeon. Multiple people have asked me if my office walls are painted black, when in reality they're painted African Violet (Hex code: #B284BE). That's a pretty extreme contrast!
If I get out of frame, Zoom will eventually adjust and my room's lighting is accurately represented in Zoom, but as soon as I come back into frame, it goes back to looking like a dungeon. And this is its own problem, because I have the adjust lighting set to Manual, but it's obviously still automatically adjusting anyway.
And yep! I sure did try setting it to Auto to see what would happen! Auto just made it worse! Even darker!
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Same happening here. I have tried everything, and nothing has been resolved.
Would appreciate some help on this.

Same for me. It's a big problem as I work with therapy clients who are used to seeing my office and me in a certain way and suddenly it changed to a dark cave and I'm outlined in dark shadows. It happened after a big Zoom update. I used to only need a ring light behind my computer screen. I now have a Lumicube on my laptop as well, and just bought an additional LED desk lamp and have two more lights on in the room. Makes almost no difference, I still am in a sombre dark room during the day, even when the sunlight pours in and even when the slide for "adjusting for low light" is set on manual and all the way to max. Zoom, please restore the setting to how it was before you moved the light adjustment to Background and Effects!!

This may not be ideal, but after trying everything (including Zoom uninstalling, re-installing, cleaning, updating my Windows, graphics, enabling HD, optimizing quality of the video, ETC.) - the only solution to date that worked for me was to:
1. Uninstall Zoom (my desktop app from Control Panel); and
2. Installing a much older version - Zoom Version 5.17.11 install link:
https://zoom.us/client/5.17.11.34827/ZoomInstaller.exe?archType=x64
As I said, I know this is not ideal, but until they fix this bug on the newer versions, this will at least allow me to properly use the light adjustment. Versions 6 and up did not work.
(Still hoping that they can fix this on the newer version too)

Thanks very much, I'll try that! I hope they fix this soon, I hear the same thing from many colleagues and friends.

Thanks very much! I'll give that old version a try. It's bizarre that they can't put this back to the way it was before. I submitted a ticket and there is no acknowledgment that it is their problem. I've sent screenshots and there is zero difference between sliding the low light adjustment slider all the way left, or all the way to the right. That is a sign that it's their problem. It worked really well for five years and after an update and moving the setting to a different category it all went pear-shaped. Fingers crossed that this get resolved very soon.

I have the same problem. The range of improvement is useless. The same for the touch-up adjustment.

Hello Community Members,
I'm sorry for the inconvenience and the late response.
Our engineering team is actively working on improving the foreground brightness in video footage, specifically in scenarios where there is significant backlighting. We aim to address this issue, and the enhancement is expected to be included in the upcoming version 6.3.0 release.
For now, thank you for your patience and understanding.
