I am planning a two day zoom class, can i pause for a 30 min lunch break, or would it be better to schedule a morning and an afternoon session, I am planning on sharing the recording with my student after the event.

Thank you

Hello,

If you have a paid account a Zoom meeting can last 30 hours.

If you want to stop for a break you can certainly keep the meeting going during the break. You could put up a PowerPoint slide with a message and a countdown timer. There are also many online timers that you could screenshare during the break.

Some examples:

There are many others.

Zoom meetings allow the host to suspend participant activities if you feel that is beneficial. Another option is to put everyone back in a waiting room during the break.

Zoom meetings can be recorded. You have the option to pause the recording. If you are worried that you will forget to restart the recording you don’t have to pause recording. If you record to the cloud you can edit the recording later. If you record locally you can edit using editing software.

Another recording approach would be to stop the recording at the break and then start a new recording after the break. This would give you a morning recording and an afternoon recording.

Personally, I like to cloud record as it makes sharing easier and there are some options that allow you to add chapters to the recording(s).

You’ll have to decide what works best for your needs. It’s all really a matter of what works for you.

I would strongly suggest that you practice doing all of these things in advance so that you are comfortable with the process on the days of the meetings and that there are no surprises when it comes time to edit or share the recordings. The process is the same for a real 8 hour meeting or a test 5 minute meeting.

Regards
