I am teaching a class on Zoom. Due to the nature of the class, I would like the students to have their cameras on during class. One of my students said that she cannot do this as having the camera on prevents her from taking notes. She uses a screen magnifier. Is there a way to leave the camera on and still take notes?

Advanced Technology

This very advanced. I would say that not many of the videos on how-to zoom doesn't give you a real break down on Zoom. They sound like Instagram videos that are trying to sell you a service. It it's still new to me though.

I would really like to see a new recording option for cloud recordings. I suggest the option "Record Host with shared screen" (in addition to "Record active speaker with shared screen").

Here a short description of our use case (in higher education). There might be similar use cases in other domains, e.g. product presentations:

Suppose, there a professor who likes to record his lecture and to provide the recording to students who were not able to attend the live session. But the professor likes to see his students during the live lecture, especially if they are asking questions. In the past the professor was very successful in motivating his students to turn on their webcams during unrecorded live sessions. In this situation, the active speaker view and the gallery view allow to see each other. And as a result the communication is much more lively as compared to meetings without webcams. However, usually the students do not want to be recorded. Therefore,  they turn off their webcams if the know lecture is recorded because they do not want to be visible in the recording. The only solution so far is, to record just the shared screen and no webcam at all. If the students know that their webcam is not recorded, they keep using their webcams. However, the recording itself would still benefit from including at least the professors webcam next to the shared screen. No matter who is the active speaker.
Therefore, the professor would like to have an option to see all webcams of all students during the live session. But at the same time exclude the other webcams except his own from the recording. The corresponding recording option would be "record shared screen and host webcam".

Do you think that is possible somehow? What do you think about that use case? Is it useful for other situations?

The support section of the website says to "submit a request to Zoom Support to check if the email address is on a bounce list." I submit the request and receive an email from zoom saying.

Unfortunately, we are unable to respond to your open ticket at this time.

Instead, use our online resources to learn more about using Zoom, find answers to questions, and troubleshoot technical issues.

If you are a part of a corporate account, and need advanced technical support beyond our online resources, please contact your Zoom account administrators.

So I assume that the only way I can get support is if I upgrade my account.  Seems pretty bogus.  If anyone has any other suggestion for how to get my email off the bounce list that would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey everyone,

I've had this problem (very occasionally) where Zoom just won't really let me click on anything, keeps sort of glitching, if I can click on it, it takes a while to respond. My own picture seems to work okay and I can see everybody else's. But eventually just grinds to a halt and I get kicked out of the meeting (others telling me my video just freezes). It seemed to temporarily resolve itself when I came in and out of a breakout room. I remember it first happening way back in November 2020 so it's been around a while. I feel like it must be a Zoom issue if going in/out of a breakout room helps solve it, rather than a CPU / Memory problem - especially as it's SO occasional. But it really knocks everything out.

I am new to using Zoom and hope someone can help

I have a regular "one to one" meeting with my Guitar tutor and have started to use Zoom, whereby we are talking and playing , A big part of this is the technical guitar playing demonstrations by my Tutor ..

In my view during the meeting my Tutor is in the large screen view and I am shown in a smaller panel . This is perfect for me.

But when I record the meeting and view the completed recording it constantly switches between my Tutor and me in the large view depending it seems on who is talking or playing.  , I think this is something to do with Active speaker settings ? I'm not certain though.

I really want to stop a recording from doing this , as I want the recording to be the same as the actual live meeting view without the constant switching., Can anyone advise how I can achieve that please (will need some practical settings .. ) thank you kindly.
