Long story short, sharing interactive whiteboards with 'external' users has been disabled on my account. This is causing major issues today, as I teach remotely and needed to add students email addresses so that they could collaborate on the board. It's been impossible. The message I receive when I've tried to share the Whiteboard reads 'A server error occurred. Try again later or if error persists, Contact us for help.' When I investigated this further, the account settings state that the admin has locked / disabled collaboration with external users and when I check up on the roles on my account, I am listed as an owner, with no admin having been added. Technically it seems that as the owner I should have admin permissions, but these are greyed out when I go into settings, meaning I am powerless over changing any sharing permissions.

I'm at a loss at what to do. Please do advise me if you can!!

Hi all,

I am the only one user of this account and when I go down to admin > account management > account settings > whiteboard > whiteboard sharing default and choose 'who has access' as 'anyone' and then go to choose 'access level'... it does not allow me to click 'editor'. ('commenter' and 'editor' are greyed out and not able to be selected).

I want anyone on the zoom to be able to be an editor on any whiteboard and this is just not letting me do that! I have tried everything!

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.  Thank you!

Please, I need to go back to the classic version of the old whiteboard because the new one is not working properly, actually, I can't use the new one because when I start the whiteboard my connection fails and this only happens when I try to use the new whiteboard. I'm using a whiteboard from another app, and it's not fair as I'm paying to have all the tools on Zoom. Can you help me to go back to the old version?

After yesterday's update I couldn't open the classic whiteboard.

I've followed the instructions in the help me database and closed and reopened Zoom but it still opens the new board.

I've unchecked the box that says "Use Whiteboard by default if available" because there's a message that says "The new Zoom Whiteboard will open by default when screen sharing. Unselect this setting if you prefer to open the classic Whiteboard instead."

After searching diligently thru prior conversations for annotation controls, I've run across things like this:

  1. In the navigation panel, click Account Management then Account Settings.
  2. Click the Meeting tab.
  3. Under In Meeting (Basic), verify that Annotation is enabled.

I have no idea what the navigation panel is (there's nothing labelled as such), and I'm unable to find anything called "account management", "account settings", a "meeting" tab, or an "in meeting (basic)" item. I can locate "Settings" under the "Zoom Workplace" menu, but nothing in the resultant window refers to any of the above, let alone annotation controls.

I don't want my users scribbling all over my screen during my presentation, but I can't find any way to turn off that ability. I'd expect it to be one of the items in the sidebar of the "Settings" window, but it's not. Where is it?

Hi Forum,

I wanted to connect my Google Drive with Whiteboard. During the login and verification process, there was a permission checkbox at the very end, which I did not notice, and I clicked agree. So, my Google Drive connected with Zoom, but I could not access the files. So, I want to disconnect Google Drive from Whiteboard, but there is no option to do that. I have tried Chatbot and different threads. There is nothing on how to disconnect a Google Drive from Zoom Whiteboard. Please help me with this. Many thanks in advance.

Hi. People in my meetings cannot collaborate/ edit on my whiteboards.

In the meeting settings, I have whiteboards enabled.

However, the default access level is stuck at 'invited users' and does not allow me to share with 'anyone'. This seems to mean participants can only be viewers.

It doesn't change whether I toggle the basic whiteboard setting (in Meeting settings) to 'whiteboard by default' or leave it with the classic whiteboard.

The ? note says that the admin has disabled 'anyone' but I am the the only user of this (paid) account.

After a year of getting used to having the taskbar (mute, video, end meeting, etc) on the side, the update today (24 April 2024) suddenly changed the taskbar to the bottom of the screen.

I cannot find a way to change its orientation again - anyone have any ideas?

I don't understand why users can't have a way to orient the taskbar as they wish?

I am in Zoom > Account Management > Account Settings > (Whiteboard Tab) > scrolled down to the section called "Whiteboard Sharing Defaults"

On that page I believe I've turned on every setting to allow maximum access from the world 😆 but I still don't seem to be able to change the "access level" setting below to "Editor"... because what's the point of a collaborative whiteboard if others cannot collaborate on it? 😄

By the way I've already set the "Default Access Level" to "Anyone" but the setting right below that (pictured here) still is grayed out / cannot be clicked on...
