Cisco MPP 8841 Random Restarts

YotiJohnson

Hello,

I was just seeing if anyone has any input or experienced a similar issue to this and if you have found a fix.

We have about 140 to 150 Cisco 8841 with the MPP firmware on it. When we switched to Zoom phone about 6 months ago our phones have been randomly rebooting. They will reboot sometimes in the morning sometimes in the afternoon, during a call, just completely random. It's not always at the same time so it's not a timeout or refresh issue with our switches or router.
We have eliminated it being a switch issue since we have tried using different switches with them.

We did not have the problem when those same devices had the enterprise firmware that we used with our Cisco PBX.

Any insight to this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @YotiJohnson

I'm not familiar your Cisco phone models. I wonder if perhaps your Zoom Phone Firmware Update Rules are inadvertently set to "Restart the devices immediately".

I hope this helps!

We didn't have any firmware rules set up to begin with. I went ahead and set one in case they are just looking for firmware rules and it is what is causing the to restart. Would you know of who I could reach out to that may have some more info on the cisco phones in the zoom environment?

Hi @YotiJohnson

Your post here with the way you titled it may help. Reddit would be a good place to try as well.

Hi @YotiJohnson

I found this thread on Cisco related to their Enterprise firmware

Have you ensured, you are on the Zoom certified firmware version on your phones ?
