hi Guys

in Germany we have crazy laws when it comes to PI. I would like to know how i can hide the attendees List, names and profile pictures on the recording? I need to know to oblige german law and protect PI of each attendee as i want to provide the recording to others that missed the session.

Can you please show me? that must be possible.

Hi, Anja.

You can configure to hide participant names and other privacy options in local and cloud recording. Though some options differ between cloud and local. I would advise you to look into it and see what is the best choices.

Also, when a recording starts, a consent must be given by the participant. This can be customized, depending on the type of account.

Hi ZzZz,

thanks for your reply. that does not answer my question unfortunately. I don't want to hide the participant names, i want to hide their video while recording, so that only the presenter/teacher is recorded. So when i save the recording on cloud solution and i want to pass it to someone that missed that session/course. This person should only see the presenter/teacher, no participant names, their videos, the chat, nothing of that sorts.

hope i am more clear with what i want to find out. 🙂

Thank you

Hi, Anja.

Understood. I would recommend trying only the Cloud recording option "Record active speaker with shared screen".

As long as you are the only active speaker, then you will be the only one recorded.

Also, before starting recording, you can set yourself in Spotlight, meaning that only you would be the active speaker. For more on this: https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0066300

I would recommend testing it out.

Dear replyer,

Thank you for the tip. I tested but i still see the other  participants when they speak.
I am in Germany and have the one pro version 5. Something. Not on this account though.
When i am in a meeting/webinar, that i host and put on speaker view beforehand and record on cloud
And then, the only thing I could do on my video is to "fixieren", which translate to "pin it" I guess?
There a no spotlight function. Could it be that I am using the wrong solution? I am using the simple one pro version which allows me to have online webinars with participants. Any other tip ore someone I could talk to?
Help is much appreciated!

Hi, Anja.

No, pin is not the same as spotlight. Please be aware that there are differences between a meeting and a webinar. While in a meeting, everyone can have audio and video by default, in a webinar, only hosts, co-hosts and panelists can have audio and video. Normal participants in a webinar can only hear and see, but they cannot talk or be seen, unless they are promoted as panelists.

To use spotlight in a meeting or webinar, you do need to have more than 1 person with video on. Please check prerequisites:

Prerequisites for spotlighting

In a Meeting

  • Host or co-host privileges for the meeting
  • Zoom desktop client for Windows, macOS, or Linux: Global minimum version or higher
  • Zoom mobile app for Android or iOS: Global minimum version or higher
  • Three (3) or more participants with video on

In a Webinar

  • Host or co-host privileges for the webinar
  • Zoom desktop client for Windows, macOS, or Linux: Global minimum version or higher
  • Zoom mobile app for Android or iOS: Global minimum version or higher
  • Two (2) or more panelists, at least one with video on

Note: Spotlighting is not available while in the webinar backstage area, if using Webinar Backstage
