chat history lost during meeting itself

Today several of my students and myself could not see messages in the chat screen, that had been sent earlier in the meeting. Messages got lost when changing from main room to breakout room and vice versa. So a lot of the time, we were starting with a new / empty chat screen, although a lot had been written earlier.

It was possible to retrieve all messages at the end of the meeting, but our problem is in the meeting itself. We would like to see all that has been written, starting from the beginning.

So: anybody has a solution / explanation?

This is the first time ever we had this problem.

Thanks!

Hi everyone! I am really sorry that this has affected your meetings.

I just wanted to let you all know that our engineering team has identified the issue and is working on a fix.

The temporary solution is to have users turn OFF the new meeting chat experience until we can support Breakout chat history.

Please refer to this guidelines to turn off the New Meeting Chat: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/11402067412109-Enabling-the-new-meeting-chat-experience

I hope this helps for now,

Please submit a support ticket. Zoom prioritizes bug fixes based on many criteria including volume of reports about an issue.

I have done this as well, but since I need a solution asap, I decided to post here as well. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I have the same issue - for the first time today. Clearly a bug.

I also had the same problem--and so have other people I know in other meetings. I really hope this isn't a permanent thing.

Zoom gave me a solution: Please be advised that this is an expected behavior if the "New chat experience" is enabled on your Zoom web portal > Account management > Account setting, if you do not wish for this behavior to happen, I suggest you make sure this option is disabled on your Account Setting.

I just ran a test and it seems to work for me.

Yes, we can turn off "New meeting chat experience" in settings, as a temporary workaround: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/11402067412109-Enabling-the-new-meeting-chat-experience

AND Zoom seems to think that this is not a problem, and needs to hear from lots of customers filing support tickets in order to understand the impact of this: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/requests/new
