I've been using an avatar head shot in Zoom meetings. (I usually keep my video off.)
It was working fine … i.e., always showed up and never required any effort.
Then one time when I turned up for a meeting, it wasn't there anymore. I don't know why. I didn't do anything.
And I haven't been able to put it back. (I put it in when I got started on Zoom. But since this happened, I haven't been able to find the steps to use to put it back in.)
I have both png and jpg versions. Does it matter which one I use?
Thanks for your help! 🙂

Hi sfrench55! Welcome to Zoom Community! 😁 You can easily replace your profile picture by going to the Zoom Web Portal > Go to Profile > Click/Upload your profile Picture 😀
You can use either jpg/jpeg, gif or png image file with size smaller than 2MB. Once you have uploaded your image you have an option to crop it as well, how cool is that! 😊
I also want to share an article about it if you plan to add/edit other information as well:

I appreciate your advice, jaustria. Thank you!
Actually, I've already done what you suggest. I did it way back when, when I set up my Zoom account. And I did it again recently, before submitting this post.
My head-shot avatar is in my profile. It always has been. But it doesn't show up when I join a meeting. It used to, but now it doesn't. And I can't figure out why.
Any ideas?

Hey @sfrench55 try it been a bit since you've posted this discussion! Suggest double-checking the setting, “Hide participant profile pictures in a meeting”. Located in the Zoom Web Portal, Settings ➡️ Meeting ➡️under “In Meeting (Basic)”, and disable Hide participant profile pictures in a meeting.
Also, try to uninstall the Zoom client and resign into the Zoom desktop client using the same credentials you use when editing your profile from https://zoom.us/profile

As sfrench55 specified, all in in my profile but suddenly not automatically giving my account avatar and name when I click on zoom meeting links from my email. NOW I have to remember to sign in to Zoom on browser before I click links in my email to join meetings. Why is there not a way AFTER join in Zoom client to sign in so avatar and name specified in my Zoom account shows or that being I've been in multiple Zoom meetings does the client not automatically use my Zoom account information?

The black box with my name always shows up, but my "head shot" (actually an avatar) doesn't.
Thanks, RN. I'll give this a try next time.

Sorry I've let this slide for so long! Thanks for your advice, RN.
Could it be that some hosts just don't allow avatars in their meetings? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Sometimes my avatar is there, and sometimes it's not. I don't seem to have any control over this.
Also, my avatar is static (it's in the upper-left corner of this message). But now, I see there are cutesy 3D avatars <https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/4642184011917-Using-Avatars-in-meetings-and-webinars#:~:te... that are actually responsive!
Can I turn my static 2D avatar into a live-action 3D avatar? That would be fun!
I just found this: "How to Create a Loomie 3D Avatar For All Your Zoom Meetings" <https://www.lifewire.com/create-3d-avatar-loomie-5075012>. Actually, now that I've looked in the App Store, I see there are several such apps.
Has anyone here tried to do this? 🤣
Then there's still the question of how to add the living, breathing avatar to one's Zoom profile.
All insights welcome!
