I have turned the waiting room off but Zoom forces waiting room on and i cannot find any way deactiv

I have been using Zoom for several years

During this time I had the waiting room disabled and gave guests a passcode

Then about six months ago I activated the waiting room for a specific event and then, after the event I disabled it

But the waiting room remains active and I cannot find a way to diable it

In addition there is NO audible warning when someone is in the waiting room, I have twice had people wait excessive links of time because I did not realize they were in the waiting room

Please tell me how to disable it, it s a real nuisance

Thanks so much

It could be that you have Waiting Room disabled as the new default, but that does not affect already scheduled meeting, which includes your PMI. Please check the already scheduled meetings you may have and ensure they have Waiting Room disabled. If not, edit the meeting, disable that option, and save the changes.

You might also check your settings to see if you have either
Use Personal Meeting ID (PMI) when scheduling a meeting or Use Personal Meeting ID (PMI) when starting an instant meeting enabled. If that is the case, you need to edit your PMI's settings directly and disable waiting room there. Your PMI's settings can be accessed on the Meetings page under the Personal Room tab.

Hope that helps and please make sure to mark the solution as accepted if this information is what you needed.

Thank you

This has been happening for about four months and it happens with meetings scheduled very recently.

I checked the Meetings Page and Waiting Room is off, see attachment.

Thanks so much for your help 🙂

It would be a help if at least there was an audible warning when someone is in the waiting room 😞

I am unable to edit the settings in the Personal Room. Could you please let me know if there is a way I can edit the settings.

I've had this problem too and it was driving me crazy! All settings for waiting room were off and yet it STILL put everyone in a waiting room. FOR ME, THE PROBLEM WAS ... the setting that allows people to join the meeting 5 min, 10 min, etc. before the meeting. So when someone tried to sign in any other time than THAT thru what ZOOM had the meeting time set to end, it put them in a waiting room.

ie, 1) someone tries to sign in 11+ min b4 the Zoom official meeting time to claim host ... waiting room.

     2) Meeting set up for 4pm and since we all know that 'doesn't mean anything' (spoiler alert: it does), and the actual meeting time is now 6pm, signing in at 5-10 min before and throughout the meeting ... waiting room.

     3) Someone is testing to see if they can get in and not even THINKING about the meeting time and doesn't know or forgot to consider that you can only get in 5-10 min before ... waiting room.

Solution for me ... CHECK and change setting to "Allow people to join ..." ANYTIME ... boom, connecting ... straight into meeting where they can claim host (providing you set and gave them the host key ;-)).

[If you're asking how do I do that, I'll save you that dilemma ... Search for "host key" under settings and make sure "Allow Zoom Rooms to start meeting with Host Key" is turned on. If it's greyed out, go to ADMIN on the left side, Account Management, Account Settings and do the same and turn it on there. If you can, great, then go back and check the first settings and turn it on as well. If you can't, contact your Admin/Account Owner and ask them to change the settings. You can change/check what the Host Key IS under your Profile. Click on the eyelash icon next to Host Key to reveal it, or edit it.]
